So, you’re ready to upgrade a bathroom, kitchen, entryway—or maybe your whole main floor. You’ve picked out some tile. You’ve gathered inspiration. And now you’re thinking: What happens next?
At Dynamic Tile & Stone, we get it. Whether you’ve worked with contractors before or this is your first renovation, there’s always a little uncertainty about what to expect. That’s why we’re laying it out for you here. No fluff. Just a clear, honest look at what it’s like to work with a professional tile installer from the first phone call to the last grout line.
Step 1: The Initial Conversation
It all starts with a chat. You reach out—by phone, email, or our contact form—and we’ll ask a few basic questions:
- What kind of project are you planning?
- Where is the job located?
- Do you already have tile picked out?
- Are you working with a designer or builder?
This first conversation helps us understand if we’re the right fit and gives us enough information to schedule an in-person estimate if needed.
You don’t need to have all the answers right away. We’ve helped plenty of clients figure things out as we go.
Step 2: The On-Site Estimate
Next, we’ll come take a look. This isn’t just about measuring the space. It’s also about:
- Evaluating the surface (subfloor, drywall, old tile, etc.)
- Checking for any existing damage or prep work needed
- Discussing layout ideas or tile patterns
- Walking through potential challenges
We’ll talk through your goals, make sure we’re aligned on expectations, and answer any questions you have about process, materials, or scheduling.
After the visit, we’ll send you a detailed quote. It includes labor, prep work, and any materials we’re supplying. No vague ranges. No mystery numbers.
Step 3: Scheduling the Work
Once the quote is approved, we set a start date.
Our schedule can book up fast, especially during renovation season, but we always aim to find a window that works for both of us. If you’re working with other trades, we’re happy to coordinate timelines to keep everything flowing.
We also talk through logistics—like site access, daily work hours, and how to protect the rest of your home while we’re working.
Step 4: Surface Prep
Here’s where the real work begins.
Tile is only as good as the surface underneath it. That’s why we never skip prep work. Depending on the project, that might mean:
- Removing old tile or flooring
- Repairing or replacing subfloor or backer board
- Waterproofing shower or bath areas
- Leveling uneven surfaces
This is the step where problems (if there are any) tend to show up. We’ll always keep you informed, show you what we’re seeing, and offer clear solutions.
We actually enjoy this part. Laying the right groundwork is what lets the rest of the job shine.
Step 5: Tile Layout and Planning
Before we install a single tile, we plan out the layout carefully. That includes:
- Centering patterns in the room or focal point
- Balancing cuts so nothing feels lopsided
- Matching grout lines to visual features
- Dry-fitting key areas for approval
For more complex designs or natural stone, we might lay out full sections before locking anything in place. We want it to look good and feel intentional—because details matter.
Step 6: Tile Installation
This is where things start to come alive.
We install tile with precision, using the right materials for the job (thinset, spacers, leveling systems, etc.). We check and re-check for flatness, alignment, and consistency.
Depending on the scope, tile installation can take anywhere from a day or two to several weeks. We’ll keep you updated along the way, clean up daily, and always respect your space while we work.
This is also the stage where you’ll see the craftsmanship we take pride in. Clean lines, tight corners, thoughtful transitions. It’s not just about sticking tile to a wall—it’s about doing it right.
Step 7: Grouting and Finishing Touches
Once the tile has cured (usually 24 hours), we move on to grout.
We’ll help you select a grout color that matches your tile and overall look. Grout isn’t just filler—it plays a huge role in the final appearance of your space.
After grouting, we clean everything down and seal the surface if needed (especially for natural stone or certain grout types).
Step 8: Final Walkthrough
When the job is complete, we’ll do a full walkthrough with you. We’ll answer questions, show you how to maintain your tile, and make sure you’re happy with the finished product.
If anything needs touching up, this is the time to flag it. We stand behind our work, and we want you to love the result.
What You Won’t Get With Us
We’ve heard a few horror stories from clients who’ve worked with other installers. So just to be clear, here’s what you won’t experience when you work with us:
- Vague pricing with surprise fees
- Messy job sites
- Radio silence for days at a time
- Rushed prep work
- Sloppy finishes or uneven lines
We don’t just install tile. We show up on time, communicate clearly, and treat your home with respect. Because we’re not just working in a house—we’re working where people live and build lifelong memories.
Ready to Start?
Tiling might seem simple from the outside, but a lot happens between “I want new tile” and “Wow, this looks amazing.” The good news? You don’t have to figure it out on your own.
At Dynamic Tile & Stone, we bring experience, attention to detail, and a genuine respect for the trade. Whether it’s a full renovation or a small upgrade, we treat every project with care.
Let us know what you’re planning. We’d be happy to talk it through—and if it feels like the right fit, we’ll be there every step of the way.
